Jeannette M. Dodson-O’Connell began working at Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C. over four years ago in 2016. Already a member of the District of Columbia Bar, she has since been admitted to the Virginia State Bar, as well as becoming an accredited attorney with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Over the last four years, her focus at the firm has been representing asbestos victims and their families. As an associate attorney, her role is multi-faceted and has included personal injury and wrongful death settlements, estate planning, and VA disability claim preparation.
Ms. Dodson-O’Connell earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Old Dominion University in Political Science, with concentrations in both Pre-Law and International Relations, as well as a minor in Geography. After college, she earned her Juris Doctor at the Regent University School of Law. Throughout her university and law school years, Ms. Dodson-O’Connell’s consistent pursuit of excellence is evidenced by her placement on the Dean’s List and memberships in multiple honor societies, including Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, which is the only one of its kind that recognizes degree seekers for their academic excellence in the field of political science.
Although Ms. Dodson-O’Connell was not originally from the area, she has been proud to call The Virginia Peninsula her home since first grade, when she and her family moved there, and she was enrolled in the Newport News Public School System. Today, she and her husband, L. Kevin O’Connell, along with their four children, are very active in the community. Not only are her children involved in the Boy Scouts of America and various local sports teams, but she and her husband also support many civic and charitable organizations that are near and dear to their hearts. Some of these include: The Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Christopher Newport University Theater Guild and Friends of Music, The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
