Verdicts and Settlements

A pioneering mesothelioma law firm, Patten, Wornom, Hatten and Diamonstein has represented asbestos exposure victims for more than 30 years, obtaining an impressive track record along the way. We take pride in these results and look forward to sharing them with you.

Our firm has become nationally renowned for its work, winning millions on behalf of clients, returning ground-breaking mesothelioma verdicts and settlements, and playing a significant role in the legislation which grants mesothelioma victims the right to take legal action for their disease. Since the 1970s, Robert R. Hatten, a founder of our Virginia mesothelioma law firm, has been advocating on behalf of asbestos exposure victims. His achievements include obtaining the first punitive damages award in a Virginia product liability case, recovering the first Virginia verdict against Garlock, and achieving one of the largest Virginia mesothelioma verdicts in the last 25 years in a case against Exxon Mobil. His involvement in asbestos litigation cannot solely be exemplified in his results, however. He also helped to establish a grass roots organization titled The Virginia Asbestos Victims Association, worked with co-counsel to persuade the Virginia General Assembly to approve a special law to allow the consolidation of asbestos lawsuits and filed the first 11 asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma claims for Newport News shipyard workers requesting benefits under the Longshoremen's and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act.

The mesothelioma attorneys at PWHD were at the forefront of asbestos litigation when it emerged in the early 1970s, and remain just as committed to protecting the rights of those who are now learning that they are suffering from a malignant, but preventable, cancer. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, contact us today for a no cost, no obligation review of your claim.

THE VIRGINIA STATE BAR RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT REQUIRE ALL ATTORNEYS TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT AND DISCLAIMER TO THEIR CASE RESULTS. SETTLEMENT AND VERDICT IN ALL CASES DEPEND ON VARIOUS FACTORS AND CIRCUMSTANCES, WHICH ARE UNIQUE TO EACH CASE. THEREFORE, PAST RESULTS IN CASES ARE NOT A GUARANTEE OR PREDICTION OF SIMILAR RESULTS IN FUTURE CASES WHICH PATTEN, WORNOM, HATTEN & DIAMONSTEIN AND ITS LAWYERS MAY UNDERTAKE.
